Newly selected Chairman of CLIA
During his speech on the status of China’s leather sector during the official All China leather Exhibition (ACLE) press conference that took place today at the New International Expocentre in Pudong, Honorary Chairman of CLIA, Su Chaoying, stated:
“The service of the 7th CLIA Council has come to an end and the new council board members were elected yesterday, with Mr Li Yuzhong succeeding me as the Chairman of the CLIA, and Mr Chen Zhanguang as the Secretary General of the CLIA”
CLIA Council Elections take place every five years and Mr Su was elected in September 2011 and is now given the post of Honorary Chairman.
The CLIA is the only official representative body in the Peoples Republic of China for the leather industry and the thousands of companies such as tanneries, components suppliers, footwear and leathergoods manufacturers.
The newly elected Chairman, Li Yuzhong, is a bachelor in leather making graduated from Shaanxi University of Science and Technology. He is an on-job postgraduate, senior engineer and until yesterday’s elections was working in the CLIA as Vice Executive Chairman and Secretary General. He is also the secretary of the local branch of the Communist Party.
Mr. Li also acts as an Executive Member in International Footwear Technology Federation and is Chairmen of The National Leather Industry Standardization Technical Committee.
Mr. Li has been working in the leather industry for nearly 30 years with great contributions to development of ACLE, Genuine Leather Mark and special leather zones.
As Chairman of the CLIA Mr Li will be managing policies concerning the gradual transformation of China’s leather industry within the context of the country changing from an export-driven to consumer and innovation-driven economy.
