Furla takes a uniform approach to its new Fall/Winter 2015 collection

Elegant and playful is how Furla describes its Fall/Winter 2015 collection, which will be highlighted at the TFWA Asia Pacific exhibition in Singapore next month.

The new collection blurs the line between fashion and art, Furla said, with inspiration taken from different types of uniform - sporty, work and college. Colours are soft and feminine and include shades of petroleum green, wine red and deep yellow. Animal prints are key, with touches of 'neon brights'.

For the leather goods, exclusive patterns, bold colours and detail play key roles in underscoring the brand’s ‘Made in Italy’ craftsmanship. Neon colours, studs, high-gloss surfaces and abstract patterns feature strongly throughout the collection.

Bold colours and finishings characterise Furla’s top-performing Metropolis Bag in gold, silver and bronzed leathers. Colour-blockings cut geometric patterns across the season’s new shape, the Viva Bag, as well as on the classic Piper Bag which is available in up to four-tone combinations.

Building on the popularity of the Furla Piper Bag, the brand is introducing the travel retail exclusive Piper Medium Dome. Available in Ares leather in Rose as well as new Stucco and Storm colours, the bag is distinguished by a Furla charm not found within the main collection and an internal plaque stating that it is a limited edition.

The new season draws inspiration from sports and college uniforms, using initials or stripes typical of varsity jackets and the patch pockets of cargo pants. Chains and metal details in contrasting colours are features of the Diana Bag, a small chain-strapped style in silver leather, while the Candy Collection includes new styles in quirky materials inspired by dolls and robots.

For men, the F/W15 collection includes the new Modular Bag, which comes as a kit with two handles, two duffle sides and two tote sides that are interchangeable for a two-in-one concept. The bag can be assembled in-store and the kit extended with further colours and materials to add a personal touch. Colours include slate grey, black, ocean blue, fern green, brown, burnt orange, tan and tobacco brown. Materials include an Ares scratched print effect, tartan and green-waxed cotton matched with leather.

The new Furla Footwear collection offers more than 50 styles. Key materials include brushed calfskin, patent leather, suede and calf hair in both solid and animal printed versions.

From flats to high heels, the pointy toe rules; colours include yellow, pink and royal blue and graphic patterns or leopard spots in white/pink and brown/yellow combinations. The collection includes booties and rubber-soled creepers with slanted zippers and the 70’s styled wedge ankle boot in two-tone suede. Colours include brown, black, pearl gray, white, fluo purple, yellow, pink and dusty blues.

Furla Global Travel Retail Director Gerry Munday commented: “The Furla team is extremely pleased with the new collection for F/W15 and it will be a pleasure to present it in Singapore this year. There are some key pieces which will sell extremely well in travel retail, including the new travel retail exclusive Piper bag which has already been incredibly well received.

“We saw sales grow in travel retail for 2013 v 2014 by +28% and now have 177 locations worldwide, along with a thriving business on some 17 airlines, in association with our inflight partner SKYlink. It’s not just about increasing the number of locations, but also seeing sales grow with existing partners as the popularity of Furla continues to grow worldwide,” Munday concluded.
