Spanish fashion brand Desigual will showcase its Spring/Summer 2015 women’s apparel and accessories collection – ‘Say Something Nice’ – at next week’s IAADFS show in Orlando (Atrium A).

“Saying nice things has an incredible effect on those receiving the compliment,” noted Desigual, explaining the collection’s name and concept. “These words are capable of finding a way straight to the heart, and at Desigual we support this simple way of making those around us happier. We want to give the world our most beautiful phrases, and we do this best through our clothing.”

The SS’15 women’s collection features “vibrant, spontaneous” items that encapsulate Desigual’s ‘Happy Casual’ concept, the brand maintains. The designs – divided into three themes (Galactic, Desigual and Happy Tour) – are described as light-hearted, comfortable and easy to wear.

The Galactic concept takes its name from Desigual’s famous circular print, which this season is used in a number of different forms, including multi-coloured, floral and filigree with an Indian influence. These feature alongside lace prints, floral and tropical motifs and pastel/degradé backdrops.

Designed for everyday wear, there are two capsule wardrobes offering basic, wearable shapes. The first is based on trompe-l’oeil and accessories such as bags, glasses, belts and cameras. The second focuses on this season’s on-trend flamingo print.

The Desigual strand of the SS’15 collection references and updates the brand’s heritage (lettering, phrases, hand-drawn hearts). Graphic shades of black, white and red predominate. Other strong motifs include pop culture and fruit – the latter inspired by La Boquería market in Barcelona.

As its name suggests, Happy Tour aims to take consumers on a trip around the world, via clothing that evokes locations from sub-Saharan Africa to southern Europe. Key inspirations include the Mediterranean and Hawaii. An extensive denim offer and a range of bathing suits and beachwear items complete this sub-collection.

The ‘Say Something Nice’ SS’15 accessories collection comprises bags, wallets, belts, pouches, jewellery, scarves and smartphone/tablet cases. “Our aim is to reach every type of woman and that’s why you’ll find lots of different types of bags in the collection: from those with lots of graphics and classic Desigual items, to more subtle designs (including plain ones) that are bang on trend,” the company explained.

Also within bags, the brand is offering a Desigual by M. Lacroix collection, which complements the clothing range of the same name.

Bag materials include leather, raffia, neoprene, denim, jacquard textile and traditional North African fabrics. Prints are a big motif; die-cut styles also feature. The shapes available reflect current trends, to include new styles like the small box bag and the retro explorer’s backpack.

Desigual’s wallet portfolio has been updated with a greater variety of styles and more elaborate interiors, with several matching items for each bag.

Belts are available in a variety of widths, in both leather and faux leather finishes. Stud application and die-cut techniques feature, as do floral motifs and tropical/animal prints.

Desigual’s jewellery offer has been boosted with new styles and materials, to include gold-plated items and brass chains.

Lastly, the brand has updated its scarf range with a number of prints that feature in the corresponding women’s collection. Desigual is also offering the kikoy – a cross between a sarong and a towel – with plush fabric on one side and tassel edging.
